PUBLISHING AND BOOK MARKETING IN NIGERIA
Abstract
Publishing is vital in developing countries, significantly influencing education and cultural development despite its limited contribution to the gross national product. It plays a crucial role in the provision of educational materials and fosters literacy and national culture. The industry, intertwined with educational systems, relies heavily on institutional support and government policies that affect funding, costs, and literacy initiatives. In Nigeria, challenges such as book distribution hinder the publishing sector's growth. To address these issues, collaboration among booksellers and standardized pricing strategies are recommended, as the publishing landscape remains delicate.
